Oh Malaysiaku…

What a veil does to my countryman

What a veil does to my countryman

It all started with this thread. Integra posted about the blog that reported that Aya was in Malaysia. Seems harmless at first. But the moment it catches the eye of every otaku in Malaysia, it went out of hand. When I got to know of the link, my first reaction when reading it was “WTF? LOLOLOL”, then to “Are these guys serious?” to “Oh Shi-!”. For me, even tho many said they were just trolling and shit, I honestly BELIEVE that many of teh posters would really DO what they said in that thread. And that kind of obsessiveness scared me. I was scared of that thread. Za moment I saw they used Google Earth to calculate Aya’s hotel, I know that they already in fantasyland, and nothing can stop them.

So armed with a laptop, a 3G connection, and my lulz connection around the world, I decided to troll them back before anything else happened. Thus I contacted Artefact from Sankaku Complex to tell him about the thread, and ask him to make a “lolwut” article out of these obsessiveness. It’s hard to type out the email when you are in a bus doing 70KM/h in narrow KL street dodging new year traffic and connections that would suddenly die, but I managed to send the email. And by the time I got home, the article was already up. Just visit this. Nuff said
Thank you to Artefact for reading that thread and manage to do a good article on it. I salute you. His sarcasm honestly is one of the best in the business, and I was glad that I picked him to do it.

And it didn’t end there. Stupid Malaysians that can’t learn laugh at themselves started trolling. Some of them were pissed off, and I can guess, they are the ones that posted in the original thread. Honestly that’s why I left AnimeShrine in the first place. Newbies that just learned how to download some animus think they are so superior and know all that shit about anime and Japan. I can’t take it anymore there. But it was good to see the oldies of AnimeShrine like Fuj, Quazacolt and e-jump laughed at themselves for getting their post quoted on the thread. It’s the people that take this too seriously that are making it more stupid that it originally was.

So my advice to my fellow Malaysian is, stop the obsessiveness. I mean this post at Sankaku sums it up :

Jesus fucking christ, if the USA were THIS motivated they would have captured Saddam 5 years ago, and Osama 3 days after 9-11.

.
Yes. If the Malaysian had that obsessiveness in something else, like I dunno, FIX THEIR LIFESTYLE? It would have been much better to them and the country in general. Honestly it was really embarrassing for me to read that thread, and I was glad HMMaster locked it before it went REALLY out of hand.

Update: Apparently she was already in Japan by the time they planned the hunt.

From her latest blog post:

帰国

そしてあっという間に帰ってきました。
あぁ~やっぱり日本が一番だぁ(T_T)
28日の夜に着いて31日の朝に帰ってくる…
キツかったなぁ(;^_^A
まだどんな映像になるのか全く予想ができませんが、
多分マレーシアの不思議な街並みと合った、ちょっと変わったものになると思います。
何はともあれ、お疲れさま、私……
お土産もあんま見れなくて、一番の収穫はこのジンジャークッキーでした(><)
飛行..

Return

Ahh~ now I’m back after such a rush.
Japan’s definitely the best.
Leaving on the night of the 28th and returned on the morning of the 31st.
It was so tiring. (;^_^A
I still don’t know how the shots are going to turn out.
Definitely, meeting the people of Malaysia, I feel there were some weird ones.
Anyways, good job! Myself….
(the rest is something unrelated)
