After the debacle that was Endless 8, Kadokawa Shoten finally announced that the much awaited moe infested arc of Suzumiya Haruhi (which includes an extremely more boring and monotone Meganekko Nagato Yuki and a longer haired and more tsundere Suzumiya Haruhi), “Dissapearance” aka Suzumiya Haruhi no Shoushitsu will be made into a movie instead.

No other information are known other than the movie will be released in 2010.

This arc was supposedly to be aired during the second season, but the tedious and 8 week long Endless 8 means that it fell out of the timeframe, and was shafted to be a movie instead, which will surely means more milking of the fans.
