GONZO’s Death Confirmed, Strike Witches II Taken Over

strikewitchesgonzoisdead
The once prolific but now problematic studio Gonzo is now all and certainly dead, with the latest news that the upcoming sequel to the mizugi wearing kemonomimi totting series, Strike Witches’s production has been changed to AIC, according to the fourth issue of Nyantype.

The Humikane Shimada’s inspired Mecha Musume series has been one of the reason Gonzo stayed afloat during it’s most tumultuous times, raking in money in merchandising and DVD sales. But now losing the rights to the second season, it’s more than certain that they can’t stop the inevitable. With the recent burst of the Anime bubble, it’s seems that Gonzo is it’s most prominent casualty.

For the series itself, most, if not all the original staff will return to work on the series, thus meaning the series itself won’t experience a drastic change even though the production company has.

    Damn.. I’ll miss their great works. Love their previous works like Vandread, Saikano, NHK and of course, Strike Witches. ;_;

    Gonzo was never good, at least on adaptations. Saikano was a shit if you compare it with the manga. Vandread was just ok, about blood+ and many others I prefer no not opine…

    Gonzo made several good series

    1. Last EXILE
    2. Gatekeepers TV and OVA/OAD
    3. Speed Grapher
    4. Sentou Yousei Yukikaze
    5. Blue Submarine no 6 OVA/OAD

    I knew a lot of people adored Kaleidostar and Kiddy Grade. They also helped in a lot of famous series too. They have mixed record in their library and not all of them are shit.

  • What we could do to save Gonzo Studio?

  • I have hope for a second season run to my dismay I was shattered by the news from S.C. that Gonzo would not be continuing it’s legacy and turn to their partner company instead. I wonder how will the end product be?

  • AIC production value is not as polished as GONZO but they are more experienced. I don’t know if they going to use similar fan service tactics like GONZO though.

    And AIC did work with Gonzo before on Strike Bitches, so I don’t think it would make much difference
