The Epic Fail of Suzumiya Haruhi-chan

FAIL?

FAIL?

The highly anticipated anime Suzumiya Haruhi-chan no Yuutsu is fail. At least that’s what me and many other fans thought about it. The first failure was the stupid rickroll by Kadokawa Shoten, which instead of posting the anime on the promised date at jewYouTube, showed a video of a boat (nice boat?) and a message saying that it’s not ready.

Ironically not only that the fans are not amused by the joke (if it really was), the video seems to be having some problems of it’s own, as the boat was flagged as copyrighted material (lol karma is a bitch).

Definately fantastic Zange-chan cosplayer

Oh Malaysiaku…

What a veil does to my countryman

What a veil does to my countryman

It all started with this thread. Integra posted about the blog that reported that Aya was in Malaysia. Seems harmless at first. But the moment it catches the eye of every otaku in Malaysia, it went out of hand. When I got to know of the link, my first reaction when reading it was “WTF? LOLOLOL”, then to “Are these guys serious?” to “Oh Shi-!”. For me, even tho many said they were just trolling and shit, I honestly BELIEVE that many of teh posters would really DO what they said in that thread. And that kind of obsessiveness scared me. I was scared of that thread. Za moment I saw they used Google Earth to calculate Aya’s hotel, I know that they already in fantasyland, and nothing can stop them.

Shogakukan vs Raiku: Raiku wins by a KO

Makoto Raiku

Makoto Raiku

The long ongoing battle between Makoto Raiku and publishing company Shogakukan finally ended with Shogakukan agreeing to pay Raiku up to 2.55M Yen. Raiku sued the company when feeling he was underrated and overworked at the company, ended his largely famous and successful series, Konjiki no Gash Bell! in 2007. He then asked Shogakukan to return his original manga artwork and colour drawings for the series, to which he discovered 5 was missing. The case largely divided the mangako world, but most of the other mangaka supported Raiko.

The original lawsuit was for 3.3M Yen, and he also requested Shogakukan to agree that original artwork has “artistic values” but Shogakukan kept silent about it. The news of his victory was posted on his blog yesterday. Raiku already vowed never to work with Shogakukan again, and it’s still a guess wether or not he would still work as a mangaka as his only other option would be Kodansha. Shueisha, the publisher of Shounen Jump is the owner of Shogakukan, thus speculation said that he won’t consider that an option.
