The annual “Kono Light Novel wa Sugoi!” top 10 ranking list have been released, and why are the traps getting top ranking in the gender category?
The ranking, in the format “Name / Title (Gender Ranking)”:
1. Hideyoshi Kinoshita / Baka to Test to Shōkanjū (♂1) (Also top ranking novel)
2. Araragi Koyomi / Bakemonogatari (♂2)
3. Touma Kamijou / Index (♂3)
4. Mii-kun / Usotsuki Mii-kun to Kowareta Maa-chan (♂4)
5. Ken Sugisaki / Seitokai no Ichizon (♂5)
6. Mikoto Misaka / Index (♀1) <-- lol she lost to a lot of "males"
7. Ryuji / Toradora (♂6)
8. Tooko Amano / Bungaku Shoujo (♀2)
9. Nanase Kotobuki / Bungaku Shoujo (♀3)
10. Konoha Inoue / Bungaku Shoujo (♀4)
Ironically Hideyoshi Kinoshita was also ranked 10th on the female list…

To cater for the current cross dressing boom, a magazine named “Otoko no Ko Club” has been published. Originally catered for both side (also girls dressing as boys), this has been changed to exclusively males dressed as females due to the interest in this practice which has come quite popular around 2 years ago.
While originally it’s just about males who wants to become females, now they are joined by cosplayers, the otaku ones that cosplayes as their favourite female character. A certain kickboxing champion comes to mind… To this the editor of the magazine tries to cater to both side, the “casual” otaku ones, and the “hardcore” okama as well. And it’s selling quite well.
