Another proof that music anime K-On! has a large knock on effects in real life, Fender has announced that they have made a large order for their JB62/LH/3TS model. So large that it would have been normally 2 years worth of stocks.

The JB62/LH/3TS is a left handed bass model that was made famous by moe mascot Akiyama Mio in the series. Being a left handed model, but as mentioned earlier, being the model of choice by the most popular character in the series does has it’s perks. In the first 3 weeks of of the anime being aired, Fender had already sold 6 months worth of JB62/LH/3TS.

Music anime K-On! has time and time again proven itself to be an able advertisement of sort, without even trying. A store had reported that after an episode showing moe mascot Akiyama Mio wearing an AKG K701 headphone, it was subsequently sold out for the very first time.

An interesting article from Asahi Shimbun (translated version via Artefact of Sankaku Complex). It tells of industry’s analyst that the anime boom has passed, and blamed it on suprise suprise, moeshit tards

Anime industry figures say the anime boom of the past several years is ended, and the industry is quick to point fingers.

There seems little doubt that the production of anime has cooled off of late: in 2000, 124 anime titles were broadcast on Japanese TV, but in 2006 this had risen precipitously to 306; in 2008 it declined to 288. The latest season sees 30 shows airing, whereas the same season in 2006 saw 60.

K-On! has certainly been a big hit for Kyoto Animation. And it seems that even the staffs of the Fender company, the same one that produced the guitars and bass that is featured in the series watched it.

A shitstorm cometh

Never has been the otaklu (borrowing Steno’s term) world has been so divided over one small matter. And it’s all thanks to Kyoto Animation and their moefication of a simple yet right now highly debated 4-koma series, K-On!. K-On! (けいおん!), originally written and drawn by mangaka Kakifly is about a light music club, keiongaku (軽音楽) and it’s 4 members. Originally published in the seinen magazine, Manga Time Kirara, I had been a fan of this series since last year. What’s not to like about it actually? The story is simple, and more importantly, very funny.
